Updating Time Garden

How to update the Time Garden plugin and templates when a new version ships, without losing your customizations.

As Time Garden gets better and better, updating to a new Version can totally be worth it.

Step 1: Check what version you got at the bottom of Time Garden Plugin.

Time Garden V1.1.2: the plugin updates automatically through BRAT on your next launch. Update the templates only if you want the new banner art.

Fix for blank new notes: the Templater plugin (version 2.23.0 and up) silently turns off its "Trigger Templater on new file creation" switch when it updates, which left new daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly notes completely empty. The v1.1.2 plugin now turns that switch back on automatically, on every device you use. Still on an older version? See the manual fix.
All-new banner art: the 7 daily banners are now original Time Garden artwork (in the much smaller .avif format), and the weekly, monthly, and quarterly banners are licensed animated pixel art by GuttyKreum. Banners are vault files, so you only get the new art with a fresh vault download. See Changing the Banners.
Clearer device-limit messages during license activation. If you hit your device limit, you can remove an old device in your customer portal, the link is in your order confirmation email.

Depending on what the update requires, either only update the plugin or the templates, or both with the following steps below:

On Mac:
1. Hit Command + P to open the Command Palette
2. Type in "Brat Update All"
3. Select and Execute Command "BRAT: Plugins Check for updates to all beta plugins and UPDATE"
On Windows:
1. Hit CTRL + P to open the Command Palette
2. Type in "Brat Update All"
3. Select and Execute Command "BRAT: Plugins Check for updates to all beta plugins and UPDATE"

Install the newest version of Time Garden here.
Open your Obsidian Vault that uses Time Garden or your personal instance of Time Garden within the File Explorer/Finder You can open your old Time Garden Vault in your Filesystem by. right-clicking a folder, and then clicking "reveal in Finder/Explorer" !Templates to finder.png
